Can I borrow Julie & Julia and/or Olive Kitteredge??? I'll fill you in on my own book adventures in more detail soon. For now, I'll tell you my newest amusing read was "My Most Excellent Year: A Novel of Love, Mary Poppins, and Fenway Park." It's YA and very fun and Bostonian ... although a little lacking in conflict, so it's hard to ever worry too much about the characters. But let me say it again: fun, esp. if you're a Sox fan. Also good and recently read: A Voyage Long and Strange by Tony Hurwitz (combines history and travelogue with a lot of humor), The Sugar Queen by Sarah Addison Allen (literary meets chick lit meets magical realism), Q&A by Vikas Swarup (the book version of Slumdog Millionaire, which I haven't seen but I've heard is relatively similar-ish to the book), and Recipes for a Perfect Marriage by Morag Prunty (foodie high-level chick lit -- i.e., MUCH more than just ooh, I want to get married and have designer clothes but still very much written for easy female reading). I got most of those from the library, but I could send a couple to work with Dave for you if you'd like.

For something on the deeper side, try "I Am a Strange Loop" by Douglas Hofstadter. I read it a little while ago (summer 2008) and it is quite excellent. See my blog for a bit of a review.

I can't say that I have much time to read actual books these days. :(
