The mental institution they were going to send Ivar to is still located in Hastings. Her descriptions of the tall grasses waving is right on. Glad you enjoyed the book.

Hastings was the main town we went to for most of our shopping – Red Cloud was just 40 miles from Holstein where we lived. Lots of Cather stuff around there.
